Things to do in Inverness with babies and toddlers

There are plenty of family-friendly attractions around Inverness and the Scottish Highlands. But some are for slightly older children. So here, we’ve put together a few suggestions especially for the under 5s. Because we all know that on holiday, if the wee ones are happy, then we’re all happy.

Outdoor fun

Whin Park is the main public park in Inverness, with several outdoor play areas suitable for different ages. There are lots of things for small children to do here, from feeding the ducks to taking a ride on the Ness Islands Railway. The park also has a picnic area and a coffee shop for refreshments and ice cream!

Boat trips suitable for all ages include Loch Ness by Jacobite, where the little ones can have fun searching for Nessie on Scotland’s most famous loch. Or Dolphin Spirit Boat Cruises, which offer child-friendly cruises on the Moray Firth. Look out for wildlife, such as dolphins, seals and otters.

A beach day is always great fun with little kids too. See our guide to the best beaches near Inverness.

Indoor fun

If you’re looking for soft play, there’s Frankie and Lola’s, which has a dedicated toddler zone. During term time, they also put out toddler toys. And there’s a lovely café where the grown ups can enjoy some coffee and cake.

For those who love to splash, Inverness Aquadome has a great indoor leisure pool with a shallow Kiddies Padding Pool for babies and toddlers. And not forgetting our own Kingsmills swimming pool right here at the hotel.

Why not catch a show or a movie? Look out for family performances at Eden Court Theatre. And check out what’s on at Vue Cinema Inverness, which sometimes hosts Mini Mornings, with movies for the whole family.
