This year, the Highland Games in Inverness will be taking place on Saturday the 16th of July at Bught Park. With two action-packed days of Highland festivities, this year’s programme promises to be even better than the last.

The Saturday Game Plan

The games will get underway with Solo Piping, Highland Dancing and Junior Athletics, before the Chieftains Welcome and the official Opening Ceremony. Once the formalities are over and you are reeling from the annual Mass Highland Fling, the Highland Heavies take to the field in all their rugged glory. From tossing the caber to weight over the bar, you can catch all your favourite heavy events on Saturday afternoon. Once all the action on the field is over, it is time to kick up your heels and dance until the wee sma’ hours with a free party in the Clan Village.

Fun-tastic Sunday Gala

Not to be outdone by the much-anticipated heavy events, Sunday is Funday in Inverness. With a number of new events added to the Highland Games calendar, it’s all fun and games at the Highland Games in Inverness. From the Shinty Sixes and TruckNess Farewell Parade, to the Strongest Man and Woman Competitions and Wheelbarrow Grand Prix, the Inverness Gala is gearing up to be fun for the whole family.
