“The best coffee in Inverness”

In the heart of the picturesque city of Inverness, lies the Kingsmills Hotel, a bit of a hidden gem where coffee is concerned. Given that our hotel is renowned for its warm service, the lounge has long been a haven for those seeking the perfect spot to unwind and catch up. And, our new partnership with Inverness Coffee Roasting Co has taken our coffee to the next level… perhaps even serving the “best coffee in Inverness”. Let’s introduce you to the exclusive blend from Inverness Coffee Roasting; The Loggie Blend.

Inverness Coffee Roasting: Local and focused on provenance

The Kingsmills Team source locally where possible, as part of our ambitions to tread lightly on the environment. Sustainability sits at the forefront of all our decision-making. Inverness Coffee Roasting is a local artisan coffee roaster that roasts coffee every day and dispatches it directly from their roastery here in the Highlands. They take pride in sourcing high-quality beans from around the world, roasting them right here in the Highlands. And, they’re keen to share the ‘stories’ from the growers, roasters and the beans.

The Loggie Blend: smooth and punchy

The Loggie Blend, or Kingsmills Roast, consists of a dark roasted washed coffee from the central highland of Papua New Guinea. This sits on top of a washed medium roast Colombian and alongside a medium roast pulped natural coffee from the Ipanema Estate in Brazil. The team at Inverness Coffee Roasting personally source the Ipanema Estate beans having visited themselves! And, the blend is approximately a third of each coffee, with a very small amount of Robust beans from Vietnam added to give a gorgeous crema. Now, picture sitting in the deep sofas of our cosy lounge and enjoy the sounds of coffee grinding and aromas of freshly brewed coffee!

One of the secrets behind sharing the Kingsmills Roast’s delightful flavour is the precision in its brewing. Our hotel’s baristas are well-versed in the art of brewing. They ensure that every cup is a masterpiece. So, whether you prefer an espresso, cappuccino, or flat white, we’ve got you covered.

Breakfast pick-me-up

In the morning, everyone deserves a strong start to the day. Our top coffee offering extends beyond the artisan cups available in our lounge. In our Inglis and Conservatory Restaurants, our team serve a strong morning cup to help kickstart your day. Today, our morning blend, is a trio of three roasts. A medium roast washed Colombia, dark roast washed Colombia and a washed Kenya Peaberry. The resulting cup gives a bright acidity. A sweet juicy bramble note sits on top of the chocolate notes.

A softer style

Our Decaf option is a traceable single-estate coffee hailing from Finca La Laja in Mexico; a family-owned producer in the state of Veracruz. Today, the farm is certified for its sustainable production with RFA and 4C. Using water from the glaciers of the highest mountain in Mexico, they immerse the coffee to extract the caffeine in a method called the Mountain Water Process. As a result of this method, the green beans maintain their flavour. Later, the water is passed through a filter that removes the caffeine allowing the water to be re-used.

Inverness’s coffee scene

As you wind your way through the charming city centre streets, browsing the many shops and historic sights, there are many coffee stops worth visiting. Coffee aficionados will delight in a visit to the Inverness Coffee Roasting Company on Chapel Street, Inverness. A short walk from the Kingsmills, Cup & Cone offers a great pitstop en route into the city. In the old town, stop at The Milk Bar – an independent coffee bar in the Victorian Market. Or, on the riverside, you can enjoy a coffee and a stroll at the Instagram-able takeaway spot Ness Walk Kiosk.
