Our Green Policy
Green Policy
Environmental And Social Sustainability Policy
At Kingsmills Hotel and within the wider Kingsmills Group, we take our responsibility for environmental and social sustainability very seriously. That’s why we have partnered with Green Tourism, the globally recognized certification programme, to achieve best practices in this area.
Kingsmills Hotel is a 147-bedroom hotel, set in 4 acres of gardens in the heart of Inverness. The hotel boasts two restaurants, a leading events and conference centre, spa, leisure centre & swimming pool.
The Scottish Highlands is a bucket-list destination and we recognise that the world-renowned scenery and natural environment is a main attraction for tourism. We also understand that the activities of our hotel have the potential to impact the habitat and its community.
To ensure that we reduce our environmental impact and risk to our business, we have implemented an environmental management system in collaboration with Green Tourism.
We work closely with our team, suppliers, stakeholders, and guests to focus on critical areas such as carbon emissions from energy, waste, water, food, and supply chain. Our environmental performance indicators are measured and summarized annually, and we use this information to continually improve our benchmarking.
Our targets are to achieve net zero emissions for energy use by 2033 and supply chain by 2035.
We show our commitment by working with Visit Inverness Loch Ness; the UK”s first Tourism BID and the also the first Carbon Neutral BID in the UK.
We are passionate about integrating sustainable practices and environmental principles aimed at protecting natural resources, supporting local products, businesses, and suppliers, establishing and reporting on key environmental performance indicators. We are also focused on minimizing waste and pollution, raising environmental awareness among our team, guests, and communities, complying with legal principles, and supporting local employment.
We acknowledge that achieving our goals and objectives will require significant change over time. However, we firmly believe that our sustainability efforts are vital for the present and future generations, and we see them as the foundation for our long-term success and business.
