Beautiful table centrepieces for your big day

5 great wedding centrepiece ideas

Here at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness, we’ve been hosting wonderful weddings for decades. We’ve seen our versatile venue decorated in many different ways, and we are always here with ideas and inspiration for our couples. Today, we’re sharing some of our favourite ideas for centrepieces, which can add a special touch to your wedding tables for the meal and evening reception.

1. Flowers

Flowers are the traditional choice for wedding table centrepieces. Ask your florist to create fresh floral displays to complement your bouquets and other floral decorations. Alternatively, you could choose pretty potted plants or dried flowers in vases, which are longer lasting and can be reused afterwards.

2. Candles

The romantic glow of candlelight is perfect for a winter wedding. You could use tall candles in candelabras or soft tealights in glass holders to match your colour scheme. Flickering LED tealights or string lights in jars make a safe alternative to open flames.

3. Tea sets

Vintage teapots and cups look fantastic as wedding table centrepieces. You can fill the tea cups with sweeties and treats. Or add some pretty cake stands loaded with cupcakes, which guests can enjoy for dessert.

4. Books

If you share a love of books, why not use them as a table centrepiece? Pick up some books from your local antique bookstore, tie up with string and make a feature of them. You could name each table after one of your favourite books, and perhaps include a quote from each one on the table.

Sweet treats

Displays of lollipops, sweets and cakes can be very eye-catching … and delicious. You could have jars of colourful sweeties, or vases filled with cake pops. These sweet treats will look fantastic when carefully arranged as wedding centrepieces, and can also serve as favours for guests to take away at the end of the meal.
