Art Exhibition to Celebrate Silver Sunday

In celebration of Silver Sunday, a national day recognising and supporting older adults, the Kingsmills Hotel will host a special art exhibition on Sunday, 6th October from 12 noon to 4pm. Featuring works from local artists — Carole Bolton, Marcus Butler, Christine Ewan, David Ewan, and John Nicolson — the exhibition will offer a diverse range of paintings, from landscapes to semi-abstract pieces.

Our artists

Carole Bolton: A former art teacher and aviation/military artist, Carole draws inspiration from the Scottish landscape to bring realism and dynamic light into her paintings.

Marcus Butler: A self-taught artist with a passion for landscapes and portraiture, Marcus strives to create visual poems with a semi-abstract expressionist style.

Christine Ewan: A Glasgow School of Art graduate, Christine paints landscapes influenced by nature, the changing seasons, and the Scottish Colourists and French Impressionists.

David Ewan: A graphic designer turned art teacher, David creates landscape paintings inspired by the history and natural beauty of Highland Perthshire and the Scottish Highlands.

John Nicolson: Combining subject matter with abstraction, John, an Inverness-based artist and former art teacher, has exhibited widely across Scotland.

Please note that there are no tickets required for this exhibition – simply drop in from 12noon to 4pm.

In aid of AgeUK

In honour of the event, 10% of all artwork sales on the day will be donated to AgeUK, helping the charity continue its vital work in improving the lives of older people across the country.

Silver Sunday Art Exhibition

Silver Sunday, organised by AgeUK, is a national day designed to bring people of all generations together. Through free, fun activities that encourage older adults to meet new people, visit new places, and engage with their communities.

Last year, more than 2,000 events took place across the UK, hosted by local groups, businesses, and volunteers, creating opportunities for older people to connect and feel valued.

The art exhibition in the Macleod Room & Burns Room at the Kingsmills Hotel offers a perfect chance for attendees to enjoy an inspiring day of art while supporting a meaningful cause.
