What to do if it rains on your wedding day
Tips for a rainy wedding day in Scotland
In Scotland, we have famously mixed weather. Whatever time of year, there’s always a chance of rain. Just as there’s always a chance of glorious sunshine. So for couples getting married here in the Scottish Highlands, that just means you have to be prepared. Keep an eye on the weather forecast in the run-up to the big day. And if it looks like it’s going to be a rainy wedding day, don’t worry! There are plenty of ways to ensure all runs smoothly, come rain or shine.
Choose a flexible venue
Here at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness, our flexible wedding venue has beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces. So if you’ve planned for parts of your day to be outside, for example, an outdoor ceremony or drinks reception, we can easily move this indoors if we need to. After getting ready in your luxury room at the Kingclub, we’ll transport you to the venue in our golf buggy. And if it’s raining heavily, you don’t need to leave the building at all once you’re here. Everything is under one roof!
Embrace the rain
However, you’ll still have the opportunity to venture outside if you like. In fact, you can get some really fun and different wedding photos in the rain. Add a pop of colour with a bright umbrella, and let your photographer make a feature out of the weather. Be prepared
There are a few items you can have on standby for a rainy wedding day. We have some umbrellas here, which we can use to guide you from the wedding cars. You could also bring along some wellies, to keep your wedding shoes looking pristine. You can even get special wedding wellies to match your outfit!
Enjoy your special day
The most important thing is to relax and enjoy your day. Our team at the Kingsmills has plenty of experience in coordinating events in all weathers, and our hotel has lots of lovely indoor space for even the wettest of days. Once you’ve arrived at your beautifully set up wedding venue, you’ll forget all about what’s happening outside.
