Driving up the A9 from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen, you’ll reach Inverness in comfortable time for dinner, and the Kingsmills Hotel sits conveniently on the southern side of the city, close to the A9 without any city-centre wrangling.

Flying in: getting here from Inverness Airport

Inverness Airport is our closest airport, around a 20-minute taxi ride away, with regular flights to and from the UK, Ireland and Europe. For travellers weighing up hotels near Inverness Airport, we’d gently make the case for staying in the city itself: you’ll be minutes from restaurants, the river and the castle rather than beside a runway, and still barely twenty minutes from your departure gate.

Inverness Taxis is the appointed airport taxi company, with a dedicated zone outside the terminal, or we’re happy to arrange a pickup from arrivals.

By train

Inverness train station is only a 10-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the Kingsmills Hotel. It offers regular train services from Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow. An overnight Caledonian Sleeper train is also available direct from London. Taxis are available at the station, or we can arrange to pick you up when you arrive. Trains offer a great sustainable way to traverse the country and you can take in some incredible views along the way!
