The Great Glen Canoe Trail

The Great Glen Canoe Trail was Scotland’s first formal canoe and kayak trail, which was launched in 2012. It is one of Scotland’s Great Trails. It runs along the Great Glen, a long narrow valley which stretches across Scotland, from Inverness to Fort William.

The 96 km route takes between 3 and 5 days to complete in full and includes a series of 29 locks. It takes in spectacular Highland landscapes and there is so much to see and do along the way. Visit historic sites, castle ruins, picturesque villages, shops, bars and restaurants.

Experienced paddlers may plan a self-guided trip, but you must register online first. There are also guided tours available, from one-day to multi-day trips.
