Resources and information

The Scottish Government website provides the information you’ll need to prepare for getting married in Scotland, whether you are from the UK or another country. This includes who is eligible to get married, the different types of wedding ceremonies, and all the forms and paperwork you’ll need to provide and complete. You’ll find further details here on the National Records of Scotland website, such as how to register for marriage and check if you need a UK visa.

Allow plenty of time to make these arrangements, at least three months. Your marriage notice and any additional forms need to be with the registrar at least 29 days before the wedding.
