Road Trips from Inverness

We are also proud business partners of the North Coast 500. Dubbed as “Scotland’s answer to Route 66” the NC500 is a scenic Scotland road trip. It showcases the very best of the Highlands. The circular route starts in Inverness and heads west towards the coast, before taking you to some spectacular sites, cliff tops and beaches to rival the Caribbean along the most northern road in Scotland. Follow the route in a clockwise clock-wise direction, all the way along the East, North then West Scottish coastlines. Touring Scotland by car has never been so beautiful. Driving through Inverness-shire, Ross and Cromarty, Sutherland and Caithness, taking in spectacular scenery and historic landmarks along the way. The NC500 has been named as one of the top 5 coastal routes in the world. In fact, we believe it to be the most awe-inspiring journey on earth! So, pack your bags, dig out the binoculars and get your camera at the ready. The North Coast 500 is at your fingertips, with a website of road trip itineraries, packed with must-see locations and things to do along the way.

The Highland Tourist Route from Inverness to Aberdeen, or vice-versa, offers a shorter Scotland road trip for a scenic Highland journey between these two great Scottish cities. The route from Inverness heads east past the Cairngorms National Park, through Speyside and towards Aberdeen. An ideal trip for nature, history and whisky lovers alike. This tour guides you through beautiful Highland landscapes, past several famous historic sites. It passes Culloden Battlefield and Cawdor Castle, and follows the Whisky trail – through Speyside “The Land Of Whisky” and home to about half of Scotland’s whisky distilleries!

The Moray Firth Route is a beautiful driving route around the Beauly, Cromarty and Dornoch Firths. It begins in Inverness and goes north on a scenic route through the wild, untouched landscapes of the north Highlands, towards Loch Fleet. Packed with ancient monuments and visitor attractions for you to discover, plus the stunning nature and wildlife of the Scottish Highlands at every twist and turn in the road. It’s a relatively short route, so you can take your time and explore every stop along the way.
