Why visit Inverness?

Inverness is Scotland’s newest city, having been granted the title in 2000  to mark the new millennium and the Queen’s golden jubilee. As such, it has all the attractions, amenities and cafes that you would expect.

A stunning walk for autumn in Inverness is to stroll along the Ness Islands. This is a scenic walk along the River Ness, taking in beautiful landmarks like Inverness Castle and Inverness Cathedral. It’s a great place to plan for a picnic too.

Inverness Events during October

There are also Inverness events taking place around the October holidays in Scotland.

The Loch Ness Knit Fest runs from the 17th to the 20th October. Now in its 4th year, it has become a must-visit event for yarn enthusiasts from all over the world. With an enhanced four-day programme it will have over 20 workshops and more than 50 vendors in the marketplace. It will even have an appearance by Danish designer Christel Seyfarth.

For the sporty amongst you, on the 9th October,  Rangers Cult-Hero Marco Negri will be talking about his time in football. Signed by Walter Smith for £3.5 million from Perugia in 1997 he gained instant adoration from the fans by scoring an incredible 23 goals in his first ten league games.

If you really want to be around champions, then you need to get yourself to the 26th Annual Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship. You thought porridge was just a simple breakfast food?
