With a rapidly growing industry within the sciences, Inverness is a city that has a lot to offer! With the recent success of the Inverness Science Festival, we give you an insight into what sort of activities you and your family can look forward to next year!
Designed for both adults and children, the Inverness Science Festival is delivered by the Highland Archive Centre. Dedicated to inspiring individuals, the festival offers an insight into the local scientific projects and an array of hands-on, interactive workshops – perfect for keeping the kids engaged!
This year, crowds were treated to inspiring talks by leading DNA consultant and Genealogist, Alisdair Macdonald, who shared his insights on tracing ancestry and how understanding genealogy is key to progressing your family tree research.
In addition to this, local garden centre, Simpsons, showcased a truly lovely exhibition, illustrating the need for insects, offering spectators the rare opportunity to observe insects through a microscope. Brew at the Bog was also another event spectacular – featuring a whole bunch of festival-themed experiments and audience participation was necessary! Participants were hands on, taking part in events such as a competition to determine who could make the best model aeroplane.
