The Kingsmills Hotel Inverness wins the accolade of “Best Hotel” in the HITA Awards 2012

The Kingsmills Hotel Inverness has won the prestigious award of “Best Hotel” in the Highlands and Islands for 2012. The coveted accolade was presented at the 7th annual HITA awards ceremony and gala dinner held in Inverness.

Managing Director, Tony Story, said, “We are absolutely delighted and thrilled to have won the HITA award for Best Hotel. This has truly Wiinning HITA best hotel award

recognised the hard work of the team in the transition from a Marriott to the much-loved Kingsmills Hotel. Our guest feedback tells us how much we are appreciated and that our efforts for continual improvement are recognised but it is always very special, and very much appreciated, to gain that recognition from our peers also. And we are not sitting back on our laurels – we will continue to work with pride and passion to maintain this valued position”

The HITA Board and Judging Panel are made up of industry volunteers who are involved because of their passion and commitment to the future of the tourism industry. This year, for the first time, a partnership with Visit Scotland offers a platform for the region’s winners to progress to the national finals at the Scottish Thistle awards. We will be waiting with everything crossed to see if we take home the award for “Best Hotel” from the Scottish Thistle Awards to be held in Glasgow on November 9th! Watch this space!

Shortlisted for the HITA Use of Social Media Award

We were delighted to be in the finals for the above award on the 18th November. Unfortunately we didn't clinch the big prize this time, but rest assured we will be back.

Fond Farewell

Fond farewell to 2011

Whilst I am not brave enough to revisit the list of resolutions that I made for 2011, I can reflect on the year gone by and ahead to our hopes for the New Year.

As I sit here in a positively balmy 12 degrees it's hard to believe that this time last year we were buried under a blanket of snow. I'm sure like me, many of you will recall that time with mixed emotions. However the deluge of snow that wrapped around the UK also brought with it some silver linings! Many of our guests who had joined us for our Hogmanay House Party could not get home and we had an extended New Year celebration! And hopefully some of you may know by now, that no-one does Hogmanay like we do in the Highlands! So watch this space for our 2012 Festive Brochure early in the New Year. However, the extreme weather was short lived and we were clear by the second week in January. And for every winter sports enthusiast, we had a very strong ski season which many of our guests were able to take full advantage of.

It wasn't long before spring was bursting out and with it the wedding season. By March we were already celebrating with our fifth happy couple of the year with many more to come throughout the year - who says romance is dead! We celebrated the 1st anniversary of our Luxury Kingsclub and Spa in May of this year. The Kingsclub has very quickly become a well established addition to "The Collection by Kingsmills" and a firm favourite with golfers from around the world.

Speaking of golf, we welcomed such golfing legends as Lee Westwood, Luke Donald and Colin Montgomery to the Kingsclub for the Barclays Scottish Open in July. As the host hotel for the European Tour we certainly had our heads turned to be around such golfing greats (or was that just me?) It was a fantastic event with a great effort from all involved, despite a month of rainfall arriving in one night.

As ever, the summer months in Inverness flew by with the hotel full to capacity with visitors enjoying the great abundance of things to see and do in the Highlands not to mention some of the most staggering scenery.

Last month we were shortlisted for a social media HITA award so if you are not already "following" or "liking" us then click on the links below! It is the best way to keep up to date with what's happening here in the Highlands and access to our very best offers! Christmas is just around the corner and we are all looking forward to our usual fun filled festive season with many old friends returning. Rehearsals are well under way for our Staff Panto which we entertain our guests with over the Hogmanay Break and the usual culprits are longing to get in the spotlight! But as ever there is no rest..... and in January we begin the refurbishment of our reception area to ensure you an even warmer welcome when we seen you at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness.

It's been great to have this space to share my ramblings with you! Wishing you all the very best wishes for a happy and peaceful Xmas and New Year, and a huge thanks from all at the Kingsmills Hotel for your continuted support. Haste ye back!
