We stayed overnight at a weekend for a family event. Hotel was very busy but this didn't compromise the service, which was carried out to a very high standard with genuinely nice staff who looked after us very well. Food was very good with plenty of options for the children. Great breakfast, I think they had anything and everything, continental and cooked buffet style. We had a great size room which is no mean feat with 2 adults and 3 older children, bunk beds for 2 and fold out bed for other. Didn't feel cramp at all. Other members of party were in the new Kings Club part of the hotel, with sumptious, cosy rooms overlooking the Inverness Golf Club. Leisure club in the main hotel was a big hit with all the family and kept the children amused for ages. Everything nice and clean, always a bonus! Great couple of days, can't wait to do it again! Have just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Kingsmills hotel. After reading some of the negative reviews on trip advisor we were a bit worried we had made a mistake in choosing this hotel, but I can honestly say it is the best hotel we have stayed at in Scotland. We had a classic room which was very spacious, comfy bed with lovely pillows. Bathroom had a walk in shower and a bath. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Food excellent although the same menu each evening, but lots to chose from. (November 2010)
We returned to the Kingsmills for our 8th visit. and a 7 day break from the pace of London. The hotel is well situated to mix good shopping with excellent walking nearby. The booking staff (Christa) discovered that this holiday was to celebrate my 60th birthday and a beautiful complimentary plate of strawberries and chocolates awaited us in our room - most welcome after our 12 hour drive. Reception and porter staff recognised us from previous visits and greeted us like long lost relatives. The room had a huge and amazingly comfortable bed, so comfy that I enquiried where I could buy a similar one. The bathroom had both a separate shower and large bath (very welcome after 15 mile walks!) Breakfast was very good, as I am vegetarian I choose omelettes instead of the usual bacon and sausages. Unfortunately the jacuzzi was being replaced in the pool area, but this did not really stop our enjoyment of the leisure facilities. Parking available always even when a wedding reception/corporate event was taking place and the town centre (which has excellent shopping) is only a 15 minute walk away and on a bus route. If I have one very minor complaint, it was that the wedding reception party/guests using the bar late at night, tended to stand outside to smoke and the smoke and their talking wafted upwards to our room. We will be back for more rest, walking and fabulour air next year. (October 2010)
I booked this hotel for 3 nights as a birthday present for my boyfriend and I couldnt have chosen better - this hotel is fantasic! We arrived after a four hour drive through the highlands and went to the main hotel to check in to be told we had been upgraded to the new Kings Club & Spa, which opened a few weeks ago, free of charge! A fantastic surprise! As you would expect for a hotel which has just opened everything was of the highest quality and standard. The room had it's own private balcony with a view over the local golf course which was great for sitting out in the evening, the bed was huge and really comfortable and the bathroom had a seperate power shower and bath. The room had a reasonably priced mini bar (or reasonably priced for a mini bar!) and full tea and coffee making facilities including fresh milk instead of those awful mini pots and complimentary, locally produced shortbread. We took full advantage of the leisure club which was a short walk across the car park in the main hotel (though they will take you over in a golf cart the thought of it is too much for you)! Theres a sauna and steam room, spa pool and swimming pool, as well as a small, but well equiped gym. My partner and I found it a great way to relax after a day sight seeing. We didn't eat an evening meal at the hotel but had the full scottish breakfast every day of our stay, and as we expected was of the highest quality. It's only a ten minute walk from the city centre and inverness is a great place to base yourself if you're planning on touring the highlands.I really can't sing the praises of this hotel loud enough!, and will definatly stay again. Always love staying at Kingsmills. Now stayed twice at new Kingsclub, business once then leisure trip with husband, both occasions best experience to date after many years of travel, particularly in Scotland on business. Staff really do go that extra mile. Luxury beds cocoon you to sleep, delicious breakfasts and warmth of staff ensure return visits. Well done Craig Ewan. You have an instinctive knowledge of how to deliver all that makes your customers feel special, whether on business or leisure. (June 2010)
