Royal Dornoch Golf Course is a stunning natural links golf course and one to which many golfers make the journey.
Royal Dornoch Golf Course is situated in East Sutherland right on the North Sea coast, by the Dornoch Firth.
Royal Dornoch actually has two courses, the Championship Course and the Struie Course. In their list of the top 50 links courses in the UK, Golf Digest UK & Ireland ranked the Championship Course at number 4 and the Struie Course at number 50.
The Championship Course is a par 74 from the back (blue) tees measuring 6,697 yards in total. The 7th hole, Pier, is a 479 yard par 4. The Struie Course is a par 71 and is 6,192 yards long, from the white tees. The most difficult hole is the 6th, Plantations, a par 4.
Royal Dornoch is located 45 miles (72km) from Kingsmills Hotel, through some breath-taking scenery of the Black Isle and Cromarty Firth. Head out of Inverness, north on the A9 before turning right on to the A949 for Dornoch itself. Journey time is approximately 60 minutes.
